Series: Book 7 of Southern Vampire Mysteries

Synopsis
Bestseller Harris mixes humorous Southern-fried fantasy with biting satirical commentary in her seventh novel to feature Sookie Stackhouse, the bubbly telepathic barmaid from Bon Temps, La. (after 2006's Definitely Dead). Sookie attends an all-important central U.S. vamp summit on the shores of Lake Michigan as a "human geiger counter" for Sophie-Anne Leclerq, vampire queen of a Louisiana weakened by Katrina and who will be tried during the event for murdering her king. Sookie knows the queen is innocent, but she's hardly prepared for other shocking murders, not to mention protests by the Fellowship of the Sun, a right-wing antivampire movement. Her sleuthing skills, along with those of her new telepath friend, Barry the Bellboy, are put to the extreme test.

Review
From start to finish, All Together Dead was an unbelievable thrill ride. I loved every single second of this novel. The last couple chapters had me on the edge of my seat, frantic to find out what was going to happen. Certain parts of the mystery were obvious, others were completely shocking. Either way, the action was unbeatable. The repercussions of everything that occurred are unfathomable and I just can't wait to read the next book. All Together Dead was amazing, shocking and truly awesome. The Southern Vampire series just keeps getting better and better.

  3. I haven't got past the first book in this series, but it's encouraging to hear that the books get better and better. I should continue on with them this year.

  4. I read your review of Eclipse above, and then this one -- so I had to comment. I've read all of both series (Twilight & Sookie), and I SO agree with you. In Twilight, much of the vampire/werewolf stuff is interesting -- what drives the books, in fact. The "love" story is terrible! After the first book, I was left wondering how exactly Bella & Edward "fell in love" with each other after speaking only a few dozen words. Yet I soldiered on & finished all of the books -- they're interesting, despite the terrible relationships. And the Sookie series is one of my favorites. I like the characters ten times more than Twilight, and the crazy plots can't be beat. So glad to find someone who agrees with me. Have you read all of the Stephanie Plum novels? They're entirely different, but so funny and entertaining.
