Best Psychological Scares in Books and Film!

Psychological Books
Psychological horror and thrillers can be very, very good if the tension is done just right. Anything less than perfect, though, and the books can feel both fake and rambling.

Best YA:
I couldn't come up with even one recommendation for psychological YA. I would love suggestions from anyone who's found one they love.

Best Adult:
The Store by Bentley Little
Rant by Chuck Palahniuk
Misery by Stephen King

Psychological Movies
Films that rely on psychological elements are a bit more easy to pull off. Tension can come from the story itself, but it can also be carried by the soundtrack, lighting, or even just unspoken, hard to describe looks that can pass between characters.

Cape Fear (1991)
The Skulls (2000)
Identity (2003)
The Good Son (1993)
Cape Fear (1962)
