Synopsis
An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living. This volume follows our band of survivors on their tragic journey in search of shelter. Characters live and die as they brave a treacherous landscape littered with packs of the walking dead.

Review
The Walking Dead continues to be full of surprises with Miles Behind Us. More death and loss, more gory zombies and more unexpected choices. In Miles Behind Us, readers meet a few new characters, some of whom seem to be planning things that won't be good for the group in the future.

Miles Behind Us starts off with people mourning the surprise death from the end of Days Gone Bye. The impact of that death is quickly forgotten with everything that happens in this edition. Someone is shot, someone else eaten by zombies. A man, his daughter, and her boyfriend join the group. The man quickly becomes a love interest for one of the single women while the teens seem up to something that won't end well. The group finds and loses what they believe to be sanctuaries, having hope stolen from them time and again.

The Walking Dead pulls no punches. No one is safe, no where is safe, and the zombies just keep on coming in droves. Miles Behind Us continues the story perfectly. The drawings, with the tone setting black and white, put you completely in the action and are beautifully drawn. Or as beautiful as zombies eating people can be done. Miles Behind Us keeps The Walking Dead moving at a brisk pace and will leave you anxious for the next installment.
