Breaking Dawn, the final book in the #1 bestselling Twilight Saga, will take your breath away.

Review
While I'll always have problems with certain details in the Twilight Saga, there is no denying all of the books are engrossing. Why else would I, and so many other Twilight complainers, continue to read these books when we know parts are going to aggravate us?

Bella continues to beg for sex in Breaking dawn. She's in extreme pain, but won't make a sound for fear she'll upset Edward. And that name, for the love of all that's good, why? By the end of the book Bella finally manages to grow a backbone and Edward seems to be toning the controlling down a notch. If only she could have had a little more self-confidence throughout the series, I might have been able to love it as others do.

Breaking Dawn has a good resolution, but I felt slightly let down by the big conflict scene. Shouldn't someone or something be lost after all the build-up? It was a little too happily-ever-after for my taste.

What I see as flaws, serious fans of the Saga consider pure gold. Breaking Dawn isn't a literary masterpiece in my mind, but it was just as good as Twilight and much better than New Moon and Eclipse.

  1. I agree with you. There is many things i still have problems with in the books, but yet I keep reading them. Also I did find the ending a little to happy ever after, I was waiting for someone to get killed or something bad to happen.
    Thanks for telling your thoughts(:

  2. Finally! Someone else who is not as hyped up about the whole Bella and Edward thing/Twilight/Breaking Dawn/etc. etc.!!! Geez! I read all the books, but was so extremely frustrated by the end at Bella and her lack of character and yes, a backbone towards Edward, that I was just aargh! I don't get it. The first book blew me away I thought it could only get better and better. Oh well....

  3. Breaking Dawn is what ruined the entire series for me. I felt that it was a cop out the way Bella became a vampire. Meyer didn't want Edward to be the bad guy so she came up with this crazy plot. The ending was too neat and tidy. And Jacob and Renesemee? Can you say ewwww? And what the hell is up with the name? I had all kinds of problems with this book. I was so pissed because I was genuinely excited to read it only to be disappointed in the end.

  4. I felt the same way about the end. Someone really should have died (am I terrible person for thinking that? lol).

I preferred Twilight and Eclipse to Breaking Dawn, but I loved what I was able to read of Midnight Sun even more. I really wish she would finish it :(

I don't know why I loved this series so much regardless of all its flaws...

  5. I had to read Breaking Dawn twice. The 1st time I was aggravated, the 2nd time was much better for me. Still can't tell you why.
    Good review!

  6. I agree with everything you said. I was so frustrated by the end of this book, it was all so happily ever after; especially when the conclusion had such potential. Maybe I should read Breaking Dawn again with a different mind-set?

  10. My problem with it was that it was such a different book from the others which was good, but the end game (baby) was such a crazy thing. I'm mean really?
    It was just so anti-climatic.

  11. I totally agree about Bella being a weakling and Edward being WAY too domineering. That's one major aspect I didn't like about the series. But I agree, they are very engrossing, which makes it one of my favorite series.

I liked that Bella became one of the stronger kinds of vampires, because then she can actually protect Edward instead of him always coming to her rescue.

I guess I have to disagree with you and some of the other commenters. I'm a sucker for happy endings. If it ends on a weird note, I don't feel like the book has successfully ENDED for me.

  12. I haven't read Breaking Dawn yet (I do have it but I was so annoyed by Eclipse when I read it that I never got round to it!) I absolutely agree with you though, despite the flaws there is something compulsive about the books. I loved Twilight and liked New Moon.

  13. you know i concede to just about every criticicsm people have of this series, for the most part all the criticisms are spot on. and yet i LOVE IT and have re-read it a hundred times and watch the movies over and over and am excited about the rest coming out.... it's tragic and i can't explain it! maybe its a bit like literary crack, you know it's bad but you just have to have it....

  15. I'm with Marq, when she says *Breaking Dawn is what ruined the entire series for me*. I didn't like this book at all. For me the best book of the entire saga is New Moon. I loved it!
