Deadline by Mira Grant

Deadline by Mira Grant
2011, Orbit
Series: Book 2 of Newsflesh

Synopsis: Shaun Mason is a man without a mission. Not even running the news organization he built with his sister has the same urgency as it used to. Playing with dead things just doesn't seem as fun when you've lost as much as he has.

But when a CDC researcher fakes her own death and appears on his doorstep with a ravenous pack of zombies in tow, Shaun has a newfound interest in life. Because she brings news-he may have put down the monster who attacked them, but the conspiracy is far from dead.

Now, Shaun hits the road to find what truth can be found at the end of a shotgun.

Why read: Picked up a copy at BEA

What impressed me: Mind blown. I held off reading Deadline for a while because I thought no way a sequel could possibly live up to Feed. I was completely wrong. More conspiracy, more "who can you trust," more huge reveals that will shock and awe you, Deadline was the perfect continuation of the Newsflesh trilogy. No middle book syndrome here. Everything was necessary, every plot twist a game changer. And that ending - totally desperate for more.

What disappointed me: This is the point in the series where I start getting depressed. These books are absolutely amazing and how can there only be one more? Damn trilogies. I'm not ready for this story to end.

Recommended: Absolutely. This is zombie fiction at its finest.

Continue series: Couldn't stop me if you tried.
