Series: Book 3 of Lords of the Underworld
Danika is on the run. For months she's eluded the Lords of the Underworld, immortal warriors who won't rest until she and her family have been destroyed. But her dreams are haunted by Reyes, the warrior whose searing touch she can't forget. Yet a future together could mean death to all they both hold dear....
Why read: Reading the series
What impressed me: Everything other than the love story. Cronus and the artifacts and the Lords (except for when Reyes was being all torn about Danika) were greatly entertaining.
What disappointed me: I didn't really care for the Reyes/Danika story line that lead up to The Darkest Pleasure. Reyes' internal struggle (through no fault of his own, of course) was really sort of creepy. He wanted Danika, but he must killer her, but oh how he wanted her. Danika was only marginally better, fighting her lusty feelings because she knows he wants to kill her at least as much as he is attracted to her. This relationship was doomed to fail, and while I love the whole overcoming adversity thing in love stories, it just felt wrong here.
Recommended: Eh. Series fans may want to read The Darkest Pleasure, but casual readers will definitely enjoy some of the other Lords of the Underworld books much more.
Continue series: Yes. The series is fantastic, even if The Darkest Pleasure didn't meet my expectations.
