Series: Book 2 of Virals
So when Tory learns of an old Charleston legend about a famous she-pirate, Anne Bonney, whose fortune was never found, she can't believe her luck - buried treasure is exactly what she needs to save the Institute on Loggerhead! Trouble is, she and her friends aren't the only ones looking for it. And this time, the Virals' special powers may not be enough to dig them out of trouble . . .
Why read: Reading the series
What impressed me: The pirate storyline was great and I really enjoy Tory, her friends and their growing abilities. Even more, I love Tory when she has to deal with the rich kids. It's great to see the teen girl underneath the genius/viral.
What disappointed me: I still don't grasp why Reichs felt the need to tie Tory to Tempe from her adult forensic mystery series. Any interaction between the two feels arbitrary at best.
Recommended: Yes. This was a great science fiction novel with a wonderful pirate theme.
Continue series: Definitely. I can't wait to see how the virals evolve.
