Spotlight Series: Queen Betsy (Undead series)

MaryJanice Davidson is The New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of the Undead series. MaryJanice’s inimitable style has also delighted fans of the Mermaid series (Sleeping with the Fishes), the Wyndham Werewolf series (Derik’s Bane), and the Royal series (The Royal Treatment). With her husband, Anthony Alongi, she also writes a series featuring a teen were-dragon named Jennifer Scales. You can learn more about MaryJanice at maryjanicedavidson.net.

The Queen Betsy books were the first humorous vampire books I read. Right from the very first book, Betsy admitted that that her death, becoming a vampire and subsequently the vampire queen was utterly ridiculous. Betsy's got a funny outlook on life (or death as the case may be), a gorgeous and completely annoying man and friends that take her craziness in stride. The series is a perfect mix of shoes, blood and laugh out loud remarks.

Important Characters to Know
Elizabeth "Betsy" Taylor - Betsy lost her job and died on her 30th birthday. She woke up as a vampire a few days later only to learn that she was their prophesied queen. She lives with her human best friends, vampire boyfriend and his assistant.

Eric Sinclair - Vampire king and Betsy's boyfriend. Has a tendency to be annoying and condescending.

Jessica Watkins - Human. Betsy's obscenely rich best friend. Accepted Betsy becoming a vampire without a second thought.

Marc Spangler - Human. Betsy stopped Marc from committing suicide when they first met. He immediately became her other best friend. He's a gay emergency room doctor.

Antonia "The Ant" Taylor - Human. Betsy's stepmother. She was possessed by the devil when she became pregnant with Laura and gave the baby up for adoption without any memory of it. She's so mean no one ever realized she was possessed.

Laura Goodman - Sort-of-human. The devil's daughter and Betsy's half-sister. To rebel against her mother, she is a church goer and constant good Samaritan.

Tina -Vampire. Eric's assistant, maker and best friend.

  4. Yay, great post!
I love the series and especially Betsy and Sinclair. Ever since I read the first book I have been a fan of this hilarious series.
I still lol when I think back to when Betsy called Sinclair "Sink lair" or when he used designer shoes to get his way.
